christy’s li’l corner of the scrap galaxy

oh my gosh, where the heck have i been?? well, let’s see, DD alexa is out of school so I’m constantly running her to and fro. I’m also working full time at the lss (well, tues through fri and some saturdays) and the days I am not working, I have to battle alexa and friends for time on the computer! that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

june was a busy month scrapbooking-wise :O) I completed ALL of the paper challenges in the scrapgalaxy star challenges, woohoo! I did not even attempt the digi challenges…for some reason I am DIGI-RESISTANT. i get so irritated when I see something really cool in a magazine or online gallery and look at the materials, only to discover it is a digital layout. i don’t know why, it just irks me. but anyway, i am proud of all the layouts I did get done!

with all the scrappin’, I have made a huge dent in the vacation photos from last year…i put all the layouts in an album, only to discover I did not have room. I bought another album and it is half full already. something tells me that by the time I am done, I will have 3 full albums!

on the home front, alexa and annie decided to paint alexa’s bedroom…in 5 BRIGHT (hot pink, yellow, orange, blue and lime green!) colors. they were all gung-ho for about 2 days…it’s more than half done now BUT, they got really busy doing other stuff all of the sudden and just don’t have time to finish it. strange how that works out. nagging them will not help, i know because i’ve tried. mothers of teenagers all over the world know how that works out. i’ll keep y’all posted on the progress…and share some pics.

speaking of pics, let’s see, how about some of my favorite recent layouts:

we spent all day saturday at the beach! in true oregon coast style, it was slightly cold, BUT, it wasn’t windy! that makes all the difference in the world! here are my favorite pics from the day…and that tree the girls are posing on? yep, same tree as our last trip to the beach :O)

happy birthday kjm! for the next 10 days you’re only 1 year younger than me :O)

we spent all day saturday on the oregon coast–i wanted to share some pics i took. we had car trouble all day, but ended up on the beach finally, where it was very very windy. DD and her BF had their first walk on the beach, and it made me feel really old :O) it reminded me of DH and myself, all those years ago…

the oregon coast is beautiful, and living only an hour away from the beach, we really don’t spend much time there. i want to go back at least once this summer. it’s hit and miss with the weather. just because it’s in the 80’s here doesn’t mean it won’t be windy and rainy over there. it’s a chance we take each time we go :O) we used to camp there every memorial day weekend, and 99% of the time we’d get rained on, and still have the time of our lives!

jacqueline challenged us to post a slide show of our layouts from this past crop on scrap galaxy …this was quick n easy and i LOVE how it turned out! the star theme was perfect, and i fell in love with this song on their homepage so i just had to add it :O)

I am very happy with all the layouts i completed this past weekend. I can’t wait for the next crop! My envelope mini album challenge was a big hit, and lisa’s added it as a star challenge, so now I get to make one that’s not just a sample! I’ve only ever made these as demos for classes and kits, never filled one up myself, so I’m excited to work on it. I already have a plan for it :O)

I am itching to scrap BUT, this next weekend is our 3 day scrapbooking retreat hosted by the LSS I work at and our local stampin’ up rep. I’m teaching a class friday night–my biggest class yet of 30 peeps! I’m not nervous at all, but I have a lot of work to do putting the kits together, plus extras for people who want more than one. so, i have all the paper cut, but still need to edit and print the instructions one more time, plus put the kits together…and on friday i was invited to a card exchange, so I need to make 24 more cards for that. phew, i have a lot to do still, what am i doing on here?

Sweet! I got so many layouts done this weekend in the online crop at scrap galaxy, and was voted an awesome doodler for this layout:

Dea asked elsie flannigan to send us a challenge for the crop and this is my layout for that challenge. we were to use 10+ pictures of the same person on a layout—i really need to dig out more pics of lex when she was little-she was ADORABLE, chubby and always dirty-faced, man, i miss that kid…i feel old. (lol!)

we had to use something from around the house for this one-I used coffee filters in the background. (You can’t hardly see them in this pic, but they’re there :O)
